Pastor
Pastor Maggie Andersen Peterson began her ministry at St. Martin's in July of 2019. She earned her BA in English and Medieval Studies from Smith College in Northampton, Mass., and her MDiv from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. Before coming to St. Martin's, she served as an intern pastor at First Lutheran Church (St. Paul, Minn.) and a supply pastor at Peace Lutheran Church (Lauderdale, Minn.). Prior to seminary and the ministry, she worked in Washington, DC as a paralegal for a criminal defense practice group.
When talking to folks outside the church, Pr. Maggie often describes her job as a keeper of stories. "The greatest honor of my job is to listen to the stories of the people, places, and communities around me, and weave those stories into the greater story of God and God's people told in scripture. I think how we are called to listen, share and respond to those stories is our most important role as Christians." She loves to talk about mission development, creative worship, stewardship as a spiritual practice, and generally anything that sparks holy imagination.
Originally from Grand Island, Neb., Pr. Maggie is married to her high school sweetheart, Geoff. Together they live in Cross Plains with their cats, Merry and Pippin. In their spare time they enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and hunting for wild mushrooms. Pr. Maggie also loves cooking, board games, Korean dramas, listening to podcasts and watching the Great British Bake Off.
